Start with a few folders you can recognize quickly
Group snippets by how you reuse them. A small set such as Replies,Project links, and Reference notes is easier to maintain than a separate folder for every copied item. Move saved clips into the relevant folder using Clipboard’s clip actions, and choose names you will recognize while switching between tasks.
For example, a Replies folder can hold a delivery update, a meeting confirmation, and a standard introduction. A Project links folder can hold the brief, a shared document, and a feedback form. Each folder becomes a short list of things you need together. Clipboard remembers the last selected folder, helping you return to the same working context.
Reorder clipboard items with Manual sorting
Chronological sorting works well when you want whatever you copied most recently. Manual sorting is useful when you want a stable order: an introduction first, a follow-up second, and a closing reply third. To arrange your clips:
- Open the clip list or folder you want to organize.
- Open Sort and choose Manual.
- Use the reorder handles to drag clips into your preferred order.
- Tap Done when you finish arranging the list.
Pinned clips stay above unpinned clips; dragging an unpinned item above the pinned section is blocked. If you cannot see reorder handles, leave selection mode and clear active search or tag filters, then choose Manual again. Manual ordering is for arranging the list, while a filtered search is for finding a particular item.
You can switch back to Latest, Oldest, or name-based sorting when that view fits the task better. For a small reply library, keep a deliberate order. For reviewing newly saved links, use Latest.
Choose what a swipe does in your clipboard list
Open Clipboard’s Settings and find List swipe. Choose the behavior that fits how you browse your clips:
- Off: disable the list swipe action if you prefer deliberate taps or often swipe accidentally.
- Swipe to delete clip: use a left swipe to remove a clip you no longer need.
- Switch folder: use horizontal swipes in the main clip list to move between neighboring folders.
These are alternative settings. Choose Switch folder if you move frequently between Replies and Project links; choose swipe to delete if your main task is clearing temporary snippets. Finish manual reordering before trying swipe navigation. Folder switching also needs more than one folder and stops at the end of the folder list.
A practical setup for reusable replies
Save three replies you actually use, then put them in one folder. Pin the most important reply, select Manual sorting, and arrange the rest in the order of a typical conversation. Turn on Switch folder if you also keep a separate list of reference links.
When a reply changes, edit the saved text instead of accumulating several nearly identical versions. Search for a distinctive phrase before creating another copy. This keeps the list useful without requiring a large filing system. The same approach works forsaved AI prompts, meeting templates, and frequently shared document links.
Manual order or recent clips: which should you use?
Use an organized folder when you need a repeatable set of snippets. Use recent clips when you need something from the task you just completed. Clipboard’sRecent Clips Quick Settings tileopens a popup for that second workflow. Its recent-items list serves a different purpose from the manual order you set in the full app.
Organization starts with saved items. Neither a folder nor manual sorting can recover text that was never saved before the system clipboard changed. If you are just getting started, the clipboard history guide explains the basic save, search, and reuse workflow.
What changed in the current release?
Clipboard’s current Google Play release noteshighlight freely reorderable lists, configurable swipe gestures, folder sync fixes, and remembering the last selected folder. This guide focuses on the Android controls for arranging and navigating your saved clips. For setup across devices, follow theAndroid and Mac sync guide.
