This Privacy Policy explains how The 1 Studio ("we," "us," or "our"), the developer of Clipboard, handles information when you use the Clipboard Android app, Mac app, Web app, and clipboardhistory.app website (together, the "Service").
Avoid saving passwords, payment details, recovery codes, private keys, health information, or other secrets. Synced clipboard content is not represented as end-to-end encrypted.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive an account identifier and may receive your email address, display name, and profile photo. Firebase Authentication processes authentication information, IP addresses, and user-agent information to provide login and protect against abuse.
Clipboard content and organization data
Clipboard may process text you save or copy, together with titles, tags, folders, favorites, priority, timestamps, recycle-bin state, and other information you add to organize your clips. Content may be stored locally on your device. If you sign in or enable a sync feature, content and organization data may be uploaded to Firebase Realtime Database so it can be available on your other supported devices.
On Android, the optional "Monitor system clipboard" feature may use AccessibilityService after you enable it. It may access copy-related accessibility events, labels or content descriptions that indicate a copy action, and text copied to the system clipboard. We use this access to save and organize clipboard history—not for advertising or analytics. You can turn the feature off in Clipboard or Android accessibility settings.
Purchases and subscription information
Apple, Google, and RevenueCat process purchases and subscriptions. We may receive an app user identifier, product and entitlement information, transaction status, purchase token or receipt, and related technical data. We do not receive your full payment-card number from the app stores.
Usage, device, and security information
We and our service providers may process page or screen views, button and feature events, app version, device and operating-system information, language, screen size, referrer, approximate region, IP address, user agent, Firebase installation identifiers, App Check tokens, and similar diagnostic or security information. The marketing website uses Umami for site analytics; the apps use Firebase Analytics for product analytics.
Support communications
If you contact us, we receive the information in your message, such as your email address, device details, screenshots, account or purchase information, and any content you choose to send.
2. How we use information
- Provide login, storage, search, organization, sync, backup, and subscription features.
- Copy, display, edit, and sync content as directed by you.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- Measure feature use and understand website and app performance.
- Respond to support, privacy, billing, and account requests.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms.
- Comply with law and enforce our legal rights.
3. Legal bases where applicable
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar law applies, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you, for legitimate interests such as securing and improving the Service, with consent where required, and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent for consent-based processing, but withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.
4. When information is shared
We use service providers only as needed to operate the Service, including:
- Google and Firebase for hosting, Google Sign-In, authentication, Realtime Database, Analytics, App Check, and reCAPTCHA. See Firebase privacy and security and the Google Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement and purchase management. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution, billing, and refunds.
- Umami Cloud for privacy-focused website analytics. See the Umami Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the Service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use clipboard content for targeted advertising.
5. Retention and deletion
- Local content remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Synced clips and folders generally remain until you delete them or request account deletion.
- Authentication data remains while your account is active and is removed according to Firebase deletion schedules after we initiate deletion.
- Support records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests and maintain appropriate business records.
- Purchase, fraud-prevention, tax, or transaction records may be retained where required by law or by the app stores.
- Analytics and security data are retained according to our settings and provider schedules.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove data from encrypted backups, security logs, or records that must be retained by law. Those copies are isolated and expire according to provider retention schedules.
Request account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your Clipboard account and associated synced data from our dedicated deletion page. Deleting Clipboard does not automatically cancel an Apple or Google subscription; subscriptions must be canceled through the store that bills you.
Delete my Clipboard account6. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. Firebase states that its services encrypt data in transit with HTTPS and that Realtime Database and Authentication encrypt data at rest. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will never be lost or accessed without authorization.
7. International processing
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, providers use recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual protections.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and appeal or complain to a privacy regulator. We do not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights.
You can delete individual clips in the Service, disable optional Android clipboard monitoring, sign out, or contact us to exercise other rights. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
9. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service or applicable requirements change. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the Service.
11. Contact
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to The 1 Studio at support@the1studio.app.
